On February 19, 2025, Prof. Girish Kumar, Director of the Centre for Latin American Studies (CLAS) hosted an honorary dinner for Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in India, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Over the dinner, discussions were held to initiate academic collaboration between the Cuban universities and University of Kerala. Charge d' Affairs of the Cuban Embassy in India: Abel Aballe Despaigne, Prof Sabu Joseph, Director, Centre for Global Academics, and Dr Viji, Joint Director, Centre for Translational Research, University of Kerala were also present.
