On May 13, the University of Kerala delegation visited the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences (UCCFD in Havana. Prof. Girish Kumar R., Prof. Sabu Joseph were received by the rector, Dr. C. Silvano Merced Len. And discussed initiating academic collaboration between UoK and UCCFD. The Universidad de Ciencias de la Cultura Física y el Deporte “Manuel Fajardo” (UCCFD) in Havana, Cuba, is a premier institution specializing in physical education, sports sciences, and recreation. Established in 1961 as the Escuela Superior de Educación Física “Comandante Manuel Fajardo,” it evolved into a university in 2009. The university is named after Manuel (Piti) Fajardo Rivero, a prominent Cuban volleyball athlete and revolutionary martyr. UCCFD offers undergraduate programs in Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, as well as short-cycle technical training for sports coaches. It also provides graduate education, including master's and doctoral degrees, with a focus on continuous professional development. The university is recognised for its rigorous academic standards and has been accredited as an institution of excellence by the National Accreditation Board of Cuba. UCCFD maintains partnerships with over 50 national institutions and has signed over 80 international cooperation agreements. It is a World Alliance of Physical Education member, joining 57 institutions across 26 countries. These collaborations facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and shared academic initiatives.
